Marina Vista Elementary Observes Memorial Day

In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, May 25th. We wish you a safe and wonderful day as you spend time with family and friends, honoring those who have served.

School News
Dear Marina Vista Families,

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, I want to take a moment to thank all of the veterans and active military personnel for their service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Memorial Day is also a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the armed forces. We are grateful for their courage and the freedoms their sacrifices have helped protect.

This week, we recognized our incredible classified employees during Classified School Employee Appreciation Week. Our classified staff members play such an important role in supporting students, families, and the daily operations of our school. It was wonderful to see families joining us in showing appreciation and gratitude for all they do to help Marina Vista remain a caring, safe, and supportive place for learning.

Today, we wrapped up our final Hawk Pride Awards Ceremony of the year, recognizing students for their achievements both in and outside the classroom. Students were acknowledged for being positive, responsible, in control, doing their best, and earning and giving respect. We are proud of the many ways our students continue to grow, lead, and demonstrate strong character each day. Their hard work and commitment continue to make our school community shine.

We also enjoyed a fantastic musical performance by our TK–3rd grade students this week. A special thank you goes to Ms. Kim for all of her dedication and hard work in preparing our students for such a wonderful performance. Next week, our upper grade students in 4th–6th grade will have their opportunity to perform, and we are looking forward to another memorable evening showcasing their talents.

Looking ahead, next week we will also host our exciting Foam Party. Students are eagerly anticipating this fun-filled event, and we are excited to provide opportunities for both learning and joyful experiences as we move toward the end of the school year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Marina Vista. We hope all of our families enjoy a safe, restful, and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.

Go Hawks!
Sincerely,
Mr. Breland

Marina Vista's Daily Attendance Goal is 96% & Chronic Absenteeism Goal is 10% or Less

The graph below represents Marina Vista's average daily attendance (ADA) for each day of the month, as well as our current chronic absenteeism (missing 10% or more of school) rate. While it is the end of the year, here at Marina Vista everyday is an opportunity to learn and grow and we want student scholars to attend school each day. Please let us know how we can support you in getting to school daily and on time. Be sure to ask our team about Short Term Independent Study if you are in need. The past two weeks and May as a whole we are struggling. Let's finish strong, attending school each day on time. Let's go Hawks. We got this!
